Dev Soft UK FAQFrequently asked questions about DocView and Dev Soft UK
Straight answers about DocView Capture, DocView Web, DocView OmniRead, our custom work and consultancy, and the company behind them.
Scanning and data capture
What is DocView Capture?
DocView Capture is web-based document capture software from Dev Soft UK Ltd. It scans or imports documents, cleans up the images, reads them, separates and classifies them, extracts and validates data, and exports searchable PDFs plus XML, CSV or JSON to your business systems.
What kinds of documents can it process?
Anything you can scan or import as PDF, TIFF, JPEG or PNG: invoices, credit notes, purchase orders, receipts, forms, letters, delivery notes, claims, statements, contracts and more. 72 ready-made templates get you started, and you can define your own document types and fields.
Can it read handwriting and tick boxes?
Yes. DocView reads hand printing in boxes and handwriting in zones, tick boxes and signature boxes. Unclear values are flagged to an operator.
How does DocView make sure the data is correct?
Every value gets a confidence score. Formatters, validators, check digits, cross-field rules, database lookups and supplier matching check values automatically. Operators only see what is uncertain or invalid, with optional double-key verification and four-eyes rules.
Which scanners are supported?
Scanners with a TWAIN or WIA driver on Windows. The small DocView Scan Agent connects them to the browser. On other devices you can import files, index and verify in the browser.
I use Kofax / Tungsten Capture. Can I move to DocView Capture?
DocView Capture can import Kofax / Tungsten Capture batch class exports into draft Batch Setups. See moving from Kofax / Tungsten Capture for the full picture.
Can I run it in the cloud or on my own servers?
Both. We can host it for you on Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or another provider of your choice, quoted separately, or you can run it on your own servers or cloud.
Is there an audit trail?
Yes. Every action and every field change is recorded with the old value, new value, user and time.
Document storage and workflow
What is DocView Web?
DocView Web is our document storage and workflow solution. It stores documents by type, lets you search by index fields, share documents with time limits, collect e-signatures and run approvals. It also covers purchase orders, invoice verification, suppliers, expenses and claims. Read more about DocView Web.
How do people sign in?
With single sign-on (SSO), using Azure Active Directory or SAML.
Can I design my own approval workflows?
Yes. DocView Web has a workflow designer with a start event, activities and exclusive gateways with conditions. Tasks can be assigned to a user or a role, with Approve, Reject, Complete or custom actions. See document workflow.
Can DocView Web handle purchase orders and invoices?
Yes. It handles purchase orders, supplier approval, invoice verification against purchase orders and delivery notes, expenses and claims. See purchase to pay.
